The eyelids are one of the first facial features to give away your age. With droopy upper eyelids or puffy lower eyelids, sometimes being rested and healthy is not enough give your eyes that youthful sparkle. Our patients come from across the Southeast to have eyelid surgery for pleasing improvements that revive their entire eye area.
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both. With an upper lid blepharoplasty, the excess skin and a small strip of orbicularis muscle is removed to define the eyelid crease and the scar is well-hidden and generally imperceptible. Excess bulging fat pads are reduced and, in some cases, a ptosis repair is performed to adjust the drooping upper eyelid. Surgery may be performed asleep under general anesthesia or awake as an office procedure, depending on the specifics of the procedure.
For lower lids, blepharoplasty is performed to removed the excess skin, address the bags under the eyes, and redistribute the bulging fat pads. Incisions can be directly under the eyelashes or hidden on the undersurface of the eyelids.
Blepharoplasty is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries performed.
